A Mexican’s Perspective on Immigration

First I would like to state that a person who does not agree with the opinion of others (no factual evidence) does not make their opinion wrong but instead can point out a different perspective. Furthermore if that person is of color, he/she should not be labeled “white washed” or a “sell-out” or labeled a racist if he isn’t of color when disagreeing. Minorities should accept the opinions of other minorities not dismiss them.

For the last few days I have seen multiple posts regarding Donald Trump and his statements on illegal immigration and “anchor babies”. I am not a big supporter of Donald Trump and even disagree with deporting all 11+ million illegal immigrants. However most of the stuff being put out there is incorrect and some individuals DO need to be deported. Believe me I fully understand the immigration and deportation process being that I was not born in this country and have personal experience with Homeland Security. People are basing their argument off emotions rather than critical thinking and deciding on what is best for this country. Now Trump may not be the best option for this country but the criticism is unjust, some even comparing him to Adolf Hitler – seriously, but you’re not complaining about Planned Parenthood (founder Margaret Sanger wanted minorities and immigrants exterminated) performing over 300K abortions just in 2014 These posts continue to mention immigrants when it is not immigrants he is talking about but “illegal” immigrants. There is a big difference! As well, the comments made by Trump about murderers and rapists were geared towards illegal immigrants, in which he also stated there are good people here illegally. But the matter of fact is, there are murderers, rapists and drug dealers that are here illegally just like there is legally. He never said ALL, so why get upset that he mentions that bad individuals are coming in through the Mexican border?

Now you can argue that European settlers came to this country illegally, but seriously you are going to base your argument off something that happened 400 years ago. You may also argue that millions of Europeans immigrated to the US in the 1800s and early 1900s. But times have changed (Obama’s main theme for his campaigns), just as this country has accepted gay marriage, women’s rights, and minorities to have rights; the immigration system cannot be the same as it was 100 or even 50 years ago. We live in a country in which there are literally millions of people who would love to see the US destroyed. As well as millions if not billions who would love to reside in the US. The flow of legal and illegal immigrants needs to be controlled. Think about this; our educational spending is in the hundreds of billions (most out of all countries) in which part of it is going towards illegal immigrant kids and those born to illegal parents. Can we all agree that classrooms in public schools are overfilled, thus taking away a better experience for our legal children? Our taxes also cover those same children under Medicaid and CHIP, costing tax payers billions of dollars. The notion that all people should be accepted into this country regardless of their legal status is ridiculous. Trump is not saying that they shouldn’t be treated as humans, but that they have broken a law by entering illegally and we are a sovereign country with laws. We cannot choose which laws to follow and enforce but rather enforce them all or amend or overturn any current laws. Now I don’t believe it would be possible to deport citizens born to illegal parents but there are a lot of people here illegally that are NOT obeying ALL laws and should be deported. The idea that families should not be separated is also ridiculous. If someone breaks the law regardless of the crime, the courts separate families by sending the parent off to jail/prison. They don’t allow the person to remain free because they don’t want to separate the family.

Now let’s discuss Jorge Ramos. If you watch the video you can clearly see that Donald Trump pointed to another journalist and told him/her that they were next. Jorge Ramos stood up and started to ask questions out of turn. Donald Trump asked him multiple times to sit down that it wasn’t his turn. How hard is it to be respectable towards the other journalist who was next? Ramos later stated that he wanted his questions answered, which Donald did after allowing him back into the conference. Since when is it alright to yell out of turn just because you want your questions answered. Many reporters don’t get their questions answered! Big Deal, Get over it! Are you not tired of all the complaining that this country does?
