The True Epidemic – Ferguson, Mo

Recently I have seen a lot of attention on the incidents occurring in Ferguson, Mo, so I thought I would weigh in with my opinion. First I would like to mention that any incident where an individual is killed is a horrendous tragedy and I am not a proponent of violence. I’d also like to mention that I have friends of all shades of color, whether it be brown, black, white, yellow, and even green due to their oddly behavior. What has puzzled me is why this certain incident has received so much attention. Shouldn’t these “civil rights” activists focus their attention elsewhere? I have heard over and over that “blacks” and “browns” are being gunned down by police officers and that it has become an “epidemic”. When in fact what has become an epidemic is the rate in which crime is committed against the very own people we call our brothers and sisters (many innocent). For us “blacks” and “browns”, we commit over 90% of violent crimes against our own. Is that not more of an epidemic, or how about the rate in which we (blacks and browns) are raised in a single family home (No disrespect to those doing a wonderful job, as I can imagine it is not easy)? Did you know that the probability of committing a crime doubles if you are raised by one parent? We have all heard about the mass shootings committed by “white” individuals. However those numbers are minimal compared to the murders committed against one owns race (black and brown). We ALL need to agree that the senseless killings’ happening amongst each other is more of an issue. Many of us have known someone to be violently killed, and it happened by our own race. Let’s all work on improving ourselves and reducing the crime against “each other”.
